The Scottish Gas Network will be carrying out upgrades in Elgin from Today (March 28th).

SGN will be working in the Pansport Road and Chanonry Road area of Elgin.

This work will see the removal of the old metal gas mains and replaced with new plastic (Polyethlene) Pipes. These New pipes have a minimum lifespan of 80 years.

This work is part of a wider and ongoing gas mains replacement program.

A SGN spokesperson said: "We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused by our work and would like to reassure everyone we will be working hard to complete this project as quickly as possible. We’d like to thank road users and the local community for their patience while we carry out our essential work."

While work takes place, there will be a southbound lane closure in Pansport Road for one week, between the A96 and North College Street, and a local diversion will be in place. From Monday, Chanonry Road will also be closed for approximately six weeks.
