Richard Lochhead won the Constituency seat for Moray with 15,742 Votes for the SNP candidate in a closely fought battle with Tory Candidate Douglas Ross who came second with 12,867 votes.

Richard said on Twitter shortly after the declaration:

"Thank you Moray for placing your trust in me & the SNP to serve a further term in the Scottish Parliament"

Unlike other media sources who said Richard had lost thousands and thousands of votes he actually only lost 1.075 votes from 2011.

It would seem the higher Turn-out from 2011 and the loss of 1.075 from the SNP vote helped Tory Candidate Douglas Ross secure a much improved Vote from the 5,873 he got in 2011.

Douglas said:

"From 11000 votes behind & almost doubling our vote in 5 years it was a good night. Thanks for all the help & support."

Douglas Improved his share of the vote by a massive 6.994 votes and also secured a place in Hollyrood as an MSP for the Highlands & Islands.

Sean Morton the Scottish Labour Candidate proved less popular than the previous Labour Candidate of Kieran Green in 2011, Sean only managed 3,547 votes, 33 votes down from what Kieron managed in 2011.

Sean Morton Said:

"Winning the trust of just one voter is an honour, never mind winning the trust of thousands. I'm grateful to all of you who put your trust in me and my party. And I'm thankful for the efforts of every supporter and campaigner who joined our fight to stop the cuts. No victory for us this time but we did improve on last year's result. Onwards and upwards."

Jamie Paterson the Liberal Democrat Candidate received a share of 1,265 of the Vote, a staggering amount considering Mr Paterson has never set foot in Moray.

Jamie Paterson Said:

Absolutely Nothing.

Turn out in Moray was 54.1%, up from 51.1% in 2011.
