LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: THE SLOW DECLINE OF LABOUR IN MORAY.
It would seem that in both General and Scottish Elections the Scottish Labour Party has been slowly Dying off.
In the 2003 Scottish Elections Labour Candidate Peter James Peacock received 5,157 votes for the Moray Constituency seat.
In 2007 Labour Candidate Lee Butcher could only secure 4,580 votes for the Moray Seat.
In 2011 Kieron Green performed much worse with only 3,580 votes.
Just when things looked like it couldn't get any worse for Labour along came Sean Morton who beat Kieron Greens dismal share of the vote by only securing 3,547 of the Vote.
Labour here in Moray seem obsessed with talking about the SNP more than the Labour party, you only need look at Sean Morton's Facebook page to see this in action and his twitter account is full of the same.
I remember the days when Labour stood up against the Tory party, now it seems its fighting against a party that have adopted their old values, Labour has become bitter and twisted.
The only way that Labour will have any credibility again here in Moray is if they stop the childish behavior and get back to basics.
Stop fighting against the SNP and start offering something better, if we don't wish to stand on the side of Scottish independence we could stand on the side of Devo Max, at least that way we would be clearly different from the Tory's and the SNP when it comes to where we stand on the future of our country. At the moment the Tory party are defenders of the union and the SNP are the party of independence. We need to be different to survive.
I see no future for the Labour Party in Moray and the rest of Scotland and with people Like Morton in Moray and Dugdale as leader we will fall into the political vaults of history.
