MORAY MSP SEEKS A96 TALKS WITH TRANSPORT SCOTLAND CHIEF EXECUTIVE.

Richard Lochhead MSP has sought a meeting with the new Chief Executive of Transport Scotland, Roy Brannen, to discuss the dualling of the A96 and in particular the sections effecting communities in Moray.

The dualling of the A96 is one of the biggest infrastructure projects Moray has ever seen and will bring enormous benefits to the local economy. As with any project of this scale there are differing views on key issues, such as the route options that have been presented at this stage, and Moray’s MSP is determined the Transport Scotland chiefs are aware of the views of his constituents and that these views are at the centre of decision making as the project moves forward.

Since the initial exhibition events Mr Lochhead has had a significant volume of correspondence from constituents and community groups from across Moray sharing their views with him and he is keen to encourage people to continue to share their views with him, so he can make ongoing representations to Transport Scotland.

Commenting, Richard Lochhead MSP said:

“The SNP Government has committed to dualling the A96 from Inverness to Aberdeen by 2030 and Moray is quite literally at the centre of these plans. Whilst there will be challenges along the way, not least with the route options, the overwhelming view expressed to me is that Moray and our communities need this and our local economy will undoubtedly benefit from the project.

“Over the last few months I have been contacted by a large number of people from across the constituency about the dualling and I’ve been in regular contact with Transport Scotland and the Transport Minister about the upgrade. As local MSP, I am absolutely determined to maintain discussions with Transport Scotland bosses to ensure that the views of people in Moray are at the taken into account as things move forward, and I very much looking forward to having the opportunity to discuss the key issues face to face.

“I’d encourage all constituents who have strong views on the dualling project to get in touch with me so I can share those views with the Chief Executive, Roy Brannen.”
