First of two voting sessions for Money for Moray community projects.

People in Moray will have their first chance this weekend to vote for community projects they consider worthy of public funding.

A total of £120,000 from the Scottish Government and Moray Council is up for grabs in the innovative participatory budgeting project – Money for Moray – which invited bids from local communities.

Around 60 eligible bids were submitted with a total value of over £230,000.

Money for Moray is being spearheaded by a working group made up of volunteers from across the area.

They had initially intended running a single day-long session at which the public could listen to presentations on each of the projects and vote for which they would like to see benefit from funding.

But given the volume of applications it was decided to stage two events, the first of which will take place at the Grant Hall in Rothes this Saturday from 10am to 3pm.

The second session will be held on Sunday, June 26 from 2pm to 6pm, again at the Grant Hall.

Funding to the value of £60,000 will be available at each of the two events.

Members of the public are eligible to vote provided they live in Moray and are 14 or over. They will also be required to stay for the duration of the session in the interests of fairness to those community groups making presentations on their projects.
